Fireworks
Fred and George Weasley continued their firework mayhem leading into the start of the new year. On New Year’s Eve, the twins set off five different firework displays within Hogwarts, to great cheering from those who chose to spend the holiday at the school and to great groaning from the professors who also remained there.
See if you can match up the location of each firework display with the shape of the fireworks, the color of the fireworks (one was blue), the color of the sparkles, and the number of fireworks set off (the smallest number being 9 and the largest number being 20).
1. The five firework displays were: the one that was primarily red, the one that took place in the Great Hall, the star-shaped one, the one that was primarily purple, and the one with orange sparkles.
2. The smallest firework display had green fireworks, while the largest display had oval fireworks. (Largest and smallest refer to the number of fireworks.)
3. There were more fireworks with silver sparkles set off than fireworks with white sparkles.
4. Fred and George decided to brighten the dungeons outside the Slytherin Common Room up with some flower-shaped fireworks, but they weren't red - they weren't going to rub it in THAT much on a holiday.
5. The fireworks set off over the Quidditch Pitch were star-shaped and had gold sparkles, which some say were meant to represent the Quidditch cup. However, considering that the primary color of the Quidditch pitch fireworks was not red, Fred and George assert that the coloring was merely coincidence.
6. The fireworks set off at the Great Hall, the Quidditch Pitch, and the Slytherin Common Room were all in multiples of three. One of the sets of round fireworks and the purple fireworks were in multiples of five.
7. While defending themselves to their Head of House on messing up the Transfiguration classroom, Fred and George stressed that they had only set off half the number of fireworks in the classroom as they had over the Astronomy Tower.
8. The purple fireworks were either lit over the Astronomy Tower or had silver sparkles, while the yellow fireworks were either set off outside the Slytherin Common Room or the Great Hall.
9. Of the Great Hall, the Astronomy Tower, and the Transfiguration classroom, two locations hosted round fireworks, while the other had oval fireworks. The oval fireworks had pink sparkles.
10. There were at least twice as many fireworks set off over the Astronomy Tower as in the Great Hall. There were six more fireworks set off outside the Slytherin Common Room than over the Quidditch Pitch.
